Assigning Rubrics

Connect rubrics to categories and divisions so judges see the right scoring sheet for each entry.

Go to JudgingRubrics in the sidebar.

Click on the rubric you want to assign. This opens its detail view.

Choose a Category from the dropdown. This links the rubric to that category — when a judge scores an entry in that category, they’ll use this rubric.

If your faire uses divisions, pick a Division too. A rubric assigned to “Life Sciences” in the “Junior” division won’t show up for “Senior” entries in the same category.

If you leave division blank, the rubric applies to all divisions within that category.

Click Save. The assignment takes effect immediately.

Need a slightly different rubric for another division or category? Go back to the rubrics list, find the original, and click Duplicate. This creates an exact copy you can rename and modify without touching the original.

This saves time when rubrics share most of their criteria but differ in a few point values or performance levels.

  • Each category-division combination should have one active rubric. If you assign two rubrics to the same pairing, judges may see unexpected results.
  • Changing a rubric’s category or division after judges have started scoring won’t delete existing scores, but it will change which rubric judges see going forward. Make these changes before scoring begins.
  • Inactive rubrics are ignored during scoring even if they’re assigned to a category. Toggle them active when you’re ready.
  • You can reassign rubrics between categories at any time before your faire’s judging day.
