Adding Students

Get students into your faire by adding them one at a time or importing a whole list from a spreadsheet.

  • Required permission: students:invite

Go to StudentsAdd Students in the sidebar.

Two options here: add students one at a time, or import a batch from a CSV file.

Enter the student’s email, first name, and last name. Click Add Student. They’ll get an email invitation to join your faire.

Repeat for each student you need to add.

Click Import CSV to start the upload wizard. It walks you through three steps:

Step 1 — Upload. Drag your CSV file into the drop zone or click to browse. Any standard .csv file works — exports from Google Sheets, Excel, or your school’s SIS are all fine.

Step 2 — Map Columns. Match the columns in your file to the fields Faire Portal expects. The wizard guesses common column names (like “Email” or “First Name”), but double-check each mapping. If a column doesn’t match anything, leave it unmapped.

Step 3 — Review & Send. Preview the list before importing. The wizard flags any rows with problems — missing emails, duplicates, formatting issues. Fix what you need to, then click Import.

Head to the Students list to confirm everyone showed up. Each student gets an email invitation automatically.

  • Students who already have an account won’t get a duplicate invitation — they’re skipped automatically.
  • The CSV import handles hundreds of students without trouble. No need to break large files into batches.
  • If a student’s email bounces or they can’t find the invitation, you can resend it from the students list.
